This Privacy Policy explains how Pair, operated by RODE (Orine Bason) (“Pair,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Pair mobile and web application and related services (the “Service”). By using Pair, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Pair is a private planning space for couples. It lets two connected partners share ideas (such as links to restaurants, trips, and activities), organize them with AI assistance, plan events on a shared calendar, exchange daily moments, and play games together.
Data controller: Pair, operated by RODE (Orine Bason). For any privacy question, contact us at support@rodeteam.org.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information: your name, email address, profile photo, and account credentials.
- Couple information: your relationship start date, your partner connection, and an invite you send or accept.
- Content you add: links you paste (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, web URLs), text you write, photos you upload, listings you save, calendar events you create, daily gifts (messages, songs, drawings), reactions, and game activity.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, and identifiers needed to run the Service.
- Usage analytics: basic analytics about how features are used, to improve the Service.
2.3 Information from connected services
- Google Calendar: if you connect Google Calendar, we access your calendar events and availability to power the shared calendar and to suggest times when you and your partner are both free. See Section 5 for important details about Google data.
- Shared links: when you paste a link, we may fetch publicly available metadata about that link (such as the title, description, and thumbnail) to create a listing.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service and its core features;
- connect you with your partner and enable shared content between the two of you;
- process links you share using AI to extract a title, category, location, tags, and a short summary, so the content can be organized automatically;
- show a shared calendar, detect mutually free time, and help you plan and schedule events;
- send notifications related to your account and your partner’s activity;
- maintain safety and security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations;
- improve and develop the Service.
4. How AI and automated processing are used
Pair uses automated and AI-based processing to help organize the content you share. When you paste a link, we fetch publicly available metadata about it (such as its title, description, and thumbnail) and use AI to suggest a category, title, location, tags, and a short summary, so the content can be organized into your shared space automatically.
This processing is performed to provide features within the Service. We rely on third-party infrastructure and AI providers — including our application platform and the AI model provider it connects to — who process this data on our behalf as service providers, under terms that restrict their use of the data to providing the service to us.
We do not use your private couple content to train our own or third parties’ general-purpose AI models for unrelated purposes. The information you provide to the AI features is used to generate results for you within Pair, not to build advertising profiles.
AI-generated output may be inaccurate or incomplete; you should review it before relying on it. You can use Pair without the AI organization features by adding content manually.
5. Google user data
If you choose to connect Google Calendar, Pair requests permission to access your calendar information. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We use Google Calendar data: only to read your calendar events and availability so we can display your shared calendar and find mutually free time, and to create or update events you choose to add through Pair.
- We do not transfer or sell Google data: to anyone else except as needed to provide these features to you and your connected partner, or as required by law.
- We do not use: Google Calendar data for advertising, and we do not allow humans to read it except where you explicitly request support, for security, to comply with law, or where data is aggregated and anonymized.
- You can: disconnect Google Calendar at any time in Settings, which stops further access.
6. How we share information
Pair is built around sharing between you and your one connected partner. Beyond that, we share information only as follows:
- With your partner: content you add to your shared space (listings, calendar events, daily gifts, reactions) is visible to your connected partner. That is the core purpose of the app.
- With service providers: with vendors who help us run the Service (hosting, AI processing, analytics, crash reporting), under contracts that limit their use of your data.
- For legal reasons: if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers: if Pair is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Booking and third-party links
Pair may show links to third-party booking or reservation services (for example, to check a restaurant’s availability). When you follow such a link, you leave Pair and are subject to that third party’s terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party services.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Content you shared with your partner may remain visible to them unless they also delete it. See Section 10 for account deletion.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@rodeteam.org.
- EEA/UK: Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR.
- California: California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell personal information).
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile and personal data and disconnects you from your partner. Your former partner’s own account and data are not deleted. Some information may be retained as described in Section 8.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children’s privacy
Pair is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at support@rodeteam.org and we will take appropriate steps.
13. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including Israel. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
